Google Eloquent is iOS-Only & Blocked in the UK.
CoScript Already Runs on Windows.

On April 6th, 2026, Google launched Eloquent — a free on-device AI transcription app that cleans your speech, removes filler words, and lets you dictate without cloud uploads.

It validated everything we've been building. There's just two problems:

🚫 iOS Only

No Windows. No Android. No desktop. iPhone and iPad only.

🚫 Blocked in UK, EU & Switzerland

Not available in the UK, EEA, or Switzerland due to regulatory review.

What Google Eloquent Gets Right

Credit where it's due — Eloquent is technically impressive. It uses Google's lightweight Gemma AI modelsto process speech entirely on-device. No cloud uploads needed for basic transcription. It auto-cleans filler words (“um”, “ah”, “you know”), applies basic text transformations, and includes a “Personal Context Dictionary” that auto-imports keywords from your Gmail contacts.

The on-device processing means your voice data stays on your phone. This is the same architecture CoScript has used since day one — and it's the right approach. Google's entry into this space validates that local-first AI transcription is the future.

But validation doesn't mean superiority. Here's where things fall apart.

The Three Fatal Gaps

01 iOS Only — No Windows, No Desktop, No Android

73% of enterprise and B2B users run Windows. Eloquent doesn't exist for them. Google has confirmed an Android version is “planned” with system-wide keyboard integration, but has given no release date. A Windows version hasn't even been mentioned.

If you're a professional who works on Windows — a lawyer, developer, writer, medical professional, or enterprise employee — Eloquent simply doesn't exist for you.

02 Blocked in the UK, EU & Switzerland

Eloquent is not availablein the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area (EEA), or Switzerland at launch. Google is awaiting regulatory approval — and there's no timeline for when (or if) it will clear.

For the 450 million+ people living in these regions who want on-device AI transcription, Eloquent is a non-option. CoScript is available worldwide with zero geo-restrictions.

03 Limited Features Compared to Purpose-Built Tools

Eloquent offers 3 text transformation presets (Formal, Short, Long). CoScript offers 30+ professional tones including Legal, Medical, Creative, Academic, and more.

Eloquent has zero translation capability — it transcribes only in the language you speak. CoScript translates in real-time across 100+ languages.

Eloquent requires you to manually copy-paste transcribed text into other apps. CoScript injects text directly into your cursor position in any application, system-wide.

What Google's Entry Means for the Market

Google launching Eloquent is the best thing that could have happened for on-device transcription.

For years, the transcription market was dominated by cloud-first solutions that upload your audio to someone else's servers. Otter.ai, Fireflies, Notta — they all process your voice on their infrastructure. Google building a consumer app that explicitly processes on-device proves that local-first AI is the future.

This legitimizes the entire category and drives massive search interest in on-device transcription. Users who discover Eloquent but can't use it — because they're on Windows, or in the UK/EU — will look for alternatives. And they'll find CoScript.

Google validates the vision. CoScript delivers it on Windows, today, worldwide.
