🚀 Getting Started

How do I install CoScript?+

Download CoScript.exe from the dashboard. It's a 67MB portable executable — no installation wizard needed. Just double-click and start dictating.

What are the system requirements?+

Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). 4GB RAM minimum, 8GB recommended. For GPU-accelerated local transcription, an NVIDIA GPU with CUDA support is recommended but not required.

How do I start dictating?+

Press F9 (the global hotkey) anywhere on your desktop. Speak naturally, then release or press F9 again. Your transcribed text will be injected wherever your cursor is.

Does CoScript work offline?+

Yes. Core local transcription runs entirely on your device using the Whisper AI model. No internet required. Cloud features (translation, tone adjustment) require a connection.

How do I upgrade to Pro or Ultra?+

Open the CoScript dashboard at coscript.app/dashboard, sign in, and click 'Upgrade'. Payment is processed securely via Stripe.

Can I cancel my subscription?+

Yes, anytime. Go to your dashboard → Account → Manage Subscription. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.

What payment methods are accepted?+

All major credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) via Stripe. Prices are shown in GBP and auto-localised to USD/EUR at checkout.

Is there a free tier?+

Yes. The free tier includes 3,500 words/week of local AI transcription, 1 hour/week of cloud AI, and access to the F9 dictation hotkey with no account required.

Do you offer refunds?+

We offer a 7-day satisfaction guarantee on new Pro and Ultra subscriptions. Contact support@coscript.app within 7 days of your first payment for a full refund.

What languages does CoScript support?+

Local transcription supports 30+ languages via the Whisper model. Cloud translation supports 100+ languages via Google Cloud APIs.

How do tone adjustments work?+

After transcription, CoScript can reformat your text into 30+ professional styles — Formal, Legal, Medical, Creative, and more. This is a cloud-powered feature available on Pro and Ultra plans.

Can I transcribe audio from Zoom/Teams calls?+

Yes. CoScript uses WASAPI system audio loopback to capture any audio playing on your PC — Zoom, Teams, Meet, podcasts, YouTube, or any application.

What is the F9 hotkey?+

F9 is the global keyboard shortcut that triggers dictation anywhere on your desktop. Press F9 → speak → your words appear at your cursor position in any application.

Does CoScript support speaker diarization?+

Speaker identification is available when using cloud transcription. Local-only transcription currently outputs as a single speaker stream.

Does CoScript send my audio to the cloud?+

Not by default. Local transcription runs 100% on your device. Cloud features (translation, tones) are opt-in and use Google's encrypted API. You always control what gets sent.

Is my data stored on your servers?+

No. CoScript operates on a zero-cloud-retention architecture. Audio is processed in memory and discarded. We never store your voice recordings.

Is CoScript GDPR compliant?+

Yes. Local transcription is GDPR-compliant by architecture since no personal data leaves your device. Cloud features use encrypted, transient processing with no data retention.

Can my employer see my transcriptions?+

No. CoScript runs locally on your machine. There is no admin dashboard, no central server, and no way for anyone else to access your transcriptions.

🔧 Troubleshooting

CoScript isn't detecting my microphone+

Ensure your microphone is set as the default recording device in Windows Sound Settings. CoScript uses the system default input device.

Transcription is slow on my machine+

Local transcription speed depends on your hardware. For best performance, ensure you have an NVIDIA GPU with CUDA support. You can also switch to cloud transcription for faster results.

The F9 hotkey isn't working+

Some applications may capture F9 before CoScript. Try running CoScript as Administrator, or check that no other application is using F9 as a shortcut.

I'm getting a 'rate limit' error+

Free tier users are limited to 3,500 words/week for local transcription and 1 hour/week of cloud AI. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited access.

CoScript crashes on startup+

Try deleting the config folder at %APPDATA%/CoScript and relaunching. If the issue persists, download the latest version from your dashboard.
